Pokerstrs

To play pokerstrs using real money, the first step is to memorize and always keep in mind what are the chances of improving your hand in every round. Unlike the poker games when playing using cash there is a lot to lose if you don't measure the risk and calculate your odds.

The pocker stars ranking is a reflection of the statistical frequency of such combinations. The chances of five specific cards being dealt to one of 5 players all receiving cards are just under 2,30,000 to 1 against. If the cards were shuffled and dealt 2,30,000 times, each time to 5 hands, there would be approximately:

  • 4 Royal Flushes
  • 36 Straight Flushes
  • 30 Four of a Kind
  • 3,700 Full Houses
  • 5,100 Flushes
  • 10,200 Straights
  • 54,900 Three of a Kind
  • 123,500 Two Pairs
  • 1,098,200 Pairs

Looking at the frequency list above we can deduct that if a player has a straight flush headed by a king the odds against any other player being able to beat him on that hand are huge. Such a player would have to have a royal flush; a hand which comes only 4 times in 2,30,000.

The most important numbers in poker strs are those setting out the odds against receiving specific cards in a draw, or receiving them dealt in stud, assuming none of the cards are face up on the table. In the live poker games for 5 players the cards that may prove to become the winning hand if they are improved upon in a draw or by later cards dealt are a pair, two pairs, three of a kind, a potential straight or a potential flush.

The pokerstrs odds are:

  1. With a pair, the chances of improving to 3 of a kind by drawing or being dealt 3 cards are 8 to 1 against.
  2. With 3 of a kind the chances against drawing a pair in 2 cards to complete a full house are 15.5 to 1 against.
  3. With a straight needing one card at either end the chances of receiving that card are 5 to 1 against.
  4. With a straight that can only be completed by a card at one end the chances are 11 to 1 against.
  5. With 4 cards of the same suit, needing one to complete a flush, the chances are 41.5 to 1 against.
  6. With 3 cards needing 2 the chances are 23 to 1 against.

The numbers above show that, for example, with A A Q J 10 the chances of drawing a third Ace are better than drawing a king. Drawing 3 cards to the two Aces gives the added chance that the 3 received will include a pair, thus improving the hand to 2 Pairs or even 4 Aces. To improve a pair by drawing 3 cards, or to improve three of a kind by drawing 2 cards, each has a greater variety of chance than an attempt to fill an inside straight by drawing one card.

If you are planning to play real money poker strs games you should learn these simple odds against receiving specific cards before making a bet. This should be no more difficult than learning all the rules of the game.

The odds apply to all the players on the table, so they must be taken into account in a comparative sense. The discards made by opponents in poker sars also have to be analyzed. If a player discards only 2 cards it is correct to assume that he is playing with the odds and that his remaining cards are three of a Kind. If a player only discards one card he could have two pairs, a potential flush, a straight or better.

These odds have to be taken into account in judging how far one should go in betting real money against the known or assumed cards held by the other players. In pokerstrs, the size of the pot should never come into a player's reasoning. Those who play with the odds in mind will always have the highest winning rates.
